Claude Lapaire is a swiss writer specialized into art history. In 2017, he asked Mare et Martin to publish his text dealing with romantic sculptures during the renewal of Middle-Age. I was in charge of the creation of the editorial identity and technical adaptation of the elements furnished. Images given were mostly found on Wikipedia. The challenge was to create a harmonious layout with images of different sizes and quality.
The graphic line we chose is based on the design of medieval books. The gothic font is followed by a strict editorial placement regarding to the text. This allows the relative variety of images’ sizes and a more relaxed placement for it.
